Bill Gates's leaked memo on XP's (un)usability
With Bill Gates saying good-bye to Microsoft this week, we're realizing more by the day how much we'll miss the guy. And when reading through the many interviews floating around this week, we came across this jewel from 2003. A leaked memo from Microsoft, it's several pages of Gates just laying into his design and programming staff for—among other issues—his personal experience when trying to install Windows Moviemaker.

The SUV is officially dethroned
After reigning supreme for the better part of two decades, the mighty SUV has at long last fallen, done in by mounting fuel prices that have consumers embracing small cars and automakers scrambling to build them.
Is anyone really surprised? Gas is $3.99 at my local station. Pretty soon, we may be remembering the good old days when gas was less than $4/gallon.

Solitaire and Windows
An interesting story on slate.com about the background and history of Solitaire, the most frequently used application in Windows.
I find this point particularly relevant:

TWC Blip
Site was down for a few hours tonight. TWC went down.
Back up and rolling.
And it went back down again Saturday night.
Actually, Roadrunner is going up and down like crazy lately. If the site is inaccessible, try again later. Sorry.
Update: Seriously, this is ridiculous. It's going up and down several times/day.
05-18-08 Update: TWC tech came by today and hopefully resolved the problem. Time will tell.
